Complaints and Appeals Policy

The Global South Journal of Applied Research (GSJAR) provides a fair process for complaints about journal procedures and appeals against editorial decisions.

An appeal should explain why the author believes a decision involved a significant factual misunderstanding, procedural error or unreasonable interpretation of the evidence. Mere disagreement with reviewer comments or dissatisfaction with rejection is not sufficient.

Appeals should be submitted to editor@gsjar.org within a reasonable period after the decision, ordinarily within thirty days. The appeal must identify the manuscript and provide a concise, evidence-based explanation.

The original editor may review the matter initially. Where appropriate, the appeal may be assigned to a senior or independent editor who was not responsible for the original decision. Additional peer review may be obtained, but the journal is not required to repeat review merely because an author disagrees with the outcome.

Ordinarily, one formal appeal will be considered for each editorial decision. The outcome of the appeal will be final within the journal’s internal process.

Complaints may concern delays, staff conduct, confidentiality, conflicts of interest, policy application, website information, ethical handling or post-publication decisions. Complaints should include relevant evidence and should avoid abusive, threatening or discriminatory language.

A complaint involving the Editor-in-Chief or responsible editor will be referred to another independent senior editor or an appropriate representative of the publisher, while preserving editorial independence.

The journal will acknowledge and examine complaints in good faith. Confidential information will be shared only with those necessary to review the matter. Complainants will be informed of the outcome as fully as confidentiality and legal obligations permit.
